Durbuy in the Ourthe Valley, officially the smallest city on earth !

A pleasant tourist resort in the Ourthe valley, and not far from the Aisne valley, Durbuy is known as "the smallest city on earth" and is renowned for its good food. The town centre is a maze of narrow, pedestrianised streets, which wind between the ancient houses and walls. The River Ourthe and the River Aisne give their name to this lovely region, which includes the beautiful villages of Erezée, Hotton, Rendeux and Manhay. UNUSUAL HISTORIC BUILDINGS Formerly part of the Récollets and Récollectines? convent, the Old Granary ("Halle au Blé") and its surrounding seventeenth and eighteenth-century houses form an unusually harmonious architectural ensemble. The church contains a fonts and pulpit sculpted by Verdi. The Durbuy Tourist Information Centre has published a brochure in English with more details of Durbuy?s historic buildings. On request, the Tourist Information Centre can organise a one-hour , guided tour of the town in English. For more information, please telephone +32 (0)86 212 428. The Walloon writer Arsène Soreil said about Durbuy : "A pedestrian town, its tiny streets writhe between the outdated, quaint, cunning houses, between the walls of small scented fields". Durbuy is stuck between the Ourthe and the anticlinal of the roche de la Falize rock, its small pedestrian streets invite you to stroll, to discover its ancient houses from the 17th and 18th centuries such as the Halle aux blés (Spanish house), the convent of the Récollets and of the Récollectines, the church with its baptismal founts and its pulpit of Verdi, and the Del Chera chapel.
