Waha Church and its magnificent stained-glass windows

This remarkable building is the oldest Romanesque church in Belgium and is a listed Major Walloon Heritage Site. Its foundation stone, dated 1050, is still visible. Inside is a large stone memorial commemorating the signing of the Perpetual Edict by King Philip II of Spain, decorated with his coat-of-arms and those of the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg and the town of Marche-en-Famenne. More recently, a stunning set of stained-glass windows has been added to the church. Designed by the well-known Belgian artist Jean-Michel Folon, they add a colourful Modernist and colourful touch to the church’s atmosphere.
